Mayo-based Clarke Agri Engineering showcased its new 3m Pasture Pro direct drill for the first time, at the National Ploughing Championships this week.
The new 24 row drill comes fully galvanised.
Up front, it features a row of 12mm tines which is used to detach trash.
This front harrow can be manually or hydraulically controlled. This is followed by two rows of serrated discs, which are designed to cut a narrow slit to into the surface.
The seed is then placed in the ground via the trailing coulters. Clarke is using 410mm x 4mm discs, which run at a 12-degree angle.
The unit is fitted with a 400l hydraulic driven Guttler air seeder.
Once calibrated, the seeder is operated through ground-drive, with the forward speed and the seed metering system controlled by a wheel attached to the rear of the roller unit.
Depth control unit
Once the seed has been placed in the ground, it is followed by a prism roller.
The roller also serves as a depth control unit, with buyers having the option of manual or hydraulic depth control. The drill weighs in at 1,800kg with the prism roller, and has the option of being fitted with alternate rollers.
The unit is priced at €22,500 plus VAT.
