Glens of Antrim Potatoes ceases trading

Administrators have been appointed to Glens of Antrim Potatoes, with the business ceasing trading and most of its 95 employees losing their jobs.

Established in 1972 by the McKillop family, the company started out growing and packing potatoes, and diversified into crisp production in 2018.

It operated at sites in Cushendall and Ballymena. Making the announcement, the administrators said rising input costs have had “a significant and detrimental impact on cashflow”.

The last accounts for Glens of Antrim Potatoes Ltd for the 12 months to 31 July 2025, show it made a profit after tax of £595,846 on turnover of £13.8m, but this came after two years of losses, which totalled over £800,000.
