A number of key pedigree cattle sales are scheduled to take place in Ireland and Northern Ireland this weekend, commencing on Friday 2 October.

Northern Ireland Charolais bull sale
Swatragh Livestock Mart will play host to the Northern Ireland Charolais club show and sale of Elite bulls on Friday 2 October. Some fantastic bulls are catalogued for this year's premier event, with 57 top-class, pre-inspected bulls on offer.
Last year's sale topped at 18,000gns for the reserve overall champion, Saddleford Viper. Judging in Swatragh will get underway at 4pm, followed by the sale at 7pm.
Irish Aberdeen Angus Extravaganza Sale
The Irish Aberdeen Angus Association Extravaganza Sale takes place at Mid-Tipp Mart, Thurles on Saturday 3 October at 2pm.
The sale will offer a total of 41 pre-inspected and photographed heifers, alongside six young bulls from across the country.
This year’s sale features cattle from west Cork to Donegal and everywhere in between, with each exhibitor hoping to smash Irish records – something that has happened on numerous occasions since the sale’s inception in 2022.
Something particularly special about this year’s offering is the depth of new pedigrees represented. Alongside show winners and cattle from some of the country’s leading female lines, the catalogue features a host of firsts.
Included in the sale are the first progeny to be offered for public sale by bulls including Blelack Dean Martin, Netherton Black Lightning, Te Mania Nebo, Warraree Patrol, HW Mr Equilibrium and Liss Bruno.
These genetics originate from all four corners of the world and are highly sought after internationally. Adding further interest, the only Quaker Hill Conviction daughter in the country will also go under the hammer.

Goldstar Charolais Sale
Following on from previous year's highly successful sales, the Goldstar Charolais herd owned by Martin Ryan and family in Co Tipperary is set to stage its annual production sale of elite cattle and frozen genetics. Featured in this year's online sale is 22 lots of heifers, recipients with calves, one young bull and a number of embryo lots.
Leading the charge is one of the show heifers of the year, Goldstar Blossom, the much-admired Ocean daughter which was junior female calf champion at Tullamore and the society's national calf show. Hosted by Mid-Tipp Mart through the MartEye platform, bidding will open on Friday 2 October and close on Monday 5 October at 7pm. All cattle can be viewed on the farm on Saturday 3 October, from 12.30pm to 5pm, at E41PX85.
