I see that the folks in ArraTipp have won a Chambers Ireland bronze award for ‘deal of the year’. The Dealer was sure that it was a merger, rather than a deal, which saw the culmination of Arrabawn and Tipperary Co-op last year.

Maybe a deal and a merger is the same thing for the T&Cs of the awards. What’s certain is that ArraTipp won’t be winning any awards for milk price this month.

Its May price landed them at the bottom of the milk league for the month.

Elsewhere, I see Dawn Meats took home the gold award in the same category for its €133m deal which saw it acquire a 65% stake in the New Zealand processor Alliance Group.

“The deal represented one of the most strategically significant international agribusiness transitions completed by an Irish company,” Dawn gushed on LinkedIn.

Strategic indeed.
