“June is men’s mental health month but most people are unaware of this,” a former leader of the INHFA informed The Dealer the other day.
“Over 400 men die by suicide in Ireland each year; yet this doesn’t seem to get the attention or the notice it deserves,” he maintained.
“When road deaths reached almost 500 deaths in the 1990s, major campaigns were put in place and thankfully the numbers have reduced to an average of 170 over the last number of years – still far too many of course.
“However, you have to wonder when the same effort will be put in to address the obvious issues that exist with men’s mental health,” he asked.
It’s a fair question.
