The Sheep Ireland Elite €uro-Star ram sale held last Saturday in Kilkenny Mart saw 359 rams sold at an average price of €906 per head.

The average price achieved was down just €7 compared to last year’s sale with the clearance rate of 76% of the 472 rams catalogued running 4% lower.

Prices ranged from €300 to €3,100 with a Texel ram achieving the top price on the day.

Three Easycare sheep recorded the highest average price of €1,033/head.

This was marginally ahead of the Texels where 121 rams sold for €1,031 on average. Suffolks were not far behind with 64 rams selling for €1,020 while 143 Charollais rams averaged €909.

Belclare rams averaged €641 with 48 sold at a 77% clearance rate.
