The South East Mule Breeders group has carved out a significant market in the breeding ewe market, with numbers increasing significantly in recent years.
Its annual show and sale, taking place in Tullow Mart on Saturday 5 September at noon, includes an entry of 1,100 ewe lambs, 700 hogget ewes and 350 aged ewes.
Tullow mart manager Eric Driver paid tribute to the group’s commitment, adding that the quality of sheep on offer is as good as can be seen throughout the country – with farmers having the option of sourcing mules bred from Lanark and Swaledale ewes.
“There is something to cater for all interests. There will be strong ewe lambs suitable for letting to the ram this year, top-quality ewe hoggets and aged ewes which are proven performers and will do a great job for another few seasons.
“For anyone that cannot make the sale, remember bidding is ringside and online via the Marteye online sales platform and for those who cannot attend the group, can also assist with arranging transporting.”
