Bred in Co Louth by father and daughter, Michael and Brodie Molloy, Mullary Vabulous first tasted National glory in 2025 when she reigned supreme at the FBD National Livestock Show in Tullamore.
On Sunday, she returned to the same venue looking to retain her prestigious title for 2026. Having the final call and taking the centre of the ring at this year's show was Stephen Priestley from the UK. Vabulous quickly grasped the attention of the Brontemoor man, winning her class before going on to take the senior female champion and ultimately the supreme national title for 2026. Sired by the 180,000gns Graiggoch Rambo and out of Mullary Pretty Woman ET, the May 2024-born Vabulous is now one of the few animals to have won the coveted title two years in a row.
It was a day for the ladies in red as the second prize winner from the same class, Ballybrown Victoria, was selected as reserve senior female champion and reserve supreme champion of the show, having followed Vabulous all the way through from early morning. Brought out by Limerick breeder Bobby O’Connell and ably shown by Shauna Canny, Victoria is a daughter of the 32,000gns Ampertaine Elgin and Ballybrown Sophie.
Davis duo
Longford breeders Martin and Gerard Davis had a day to remember, racking up the junior male champion, reserve junior male champion, overall male champion and reserve overall male champion with their magnificent young bulls. Emerging victorious to take the junior male champion and overall male champion was Gerard Davis's September 2025-born bull, Castlebrock Arthur ET, a Foxhillfarm Ourbest son out of Scotchtown Esther.
Glynndavis Banbury ET brought forward by Martin Davis made sure the Castlebrock bull had to be at his best, as he secured the reserve junior male champion and reserve overall male champion for the Longford duo. Another standout ET bull, this January 2026-born bull is sired by Kilcor Iceman and out of the prolific donor cow, Ampertaine Odell.
Powering his way to success was the senior male champion, Killcastle Ventura ET, exhibited by the Kelly family from Moate in Co Westmeath. Born in November 2024, Ventura is a son of the 40,000gns Mereside Godolphin and Killcastle Marilyn Monique ET.
Junior female champion
Wrapping up the championships and lifting the junior female champion for 2026 was Lackamore Attractive exhibited by Clare breeders Michael and Enda O’Gorman. Sired by Knock Msport and out of Lackamore Twink, this September 2025-born heifer came through one of the most competitive classes of the day.
