Tillage Day 2026 takes place tomorrow, 5 November, at the Keadeen Hotel, Newbridge, Co Kildare and will bring stakeholders from across the Irish tillage sector together.
There are plenty of opportunities for young people in tillage at present, such as becoming an agronomist or getting involved in research.
Tillage Day is a chance for young farmers and those looking to work in the sector to chat to farmers, agronomists and exhibitors from across the country.
We will hear from two young farmers – Isaac Wheelock from Co Wexford and Alex Butler from Co Westmeath – on the challenges and opportunities in front of them.
Discussion
There will be plenty discussion about the rising use of technology on farms, what’s in store for the future of the tillage sector and how to get more young people interested in growing crops.
We will also hear from Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Martin Heydon about the supports and targets in place for tillage farming.
So, if you’re a young tillage farmer or want to get involved in the sector, Tillage Day 2026 will be the place to be.
Tillage Day is organised by the Irish Farmers Journal and supported by the Irish Seed Trade Association. To purchase tickets, log on to www.ifj.ie/tillageday or phone 01-419 9525.
