Widely admired on the show circuit this year, Limousin bull Castlebrock Arthur ET, bred by the Davis brothers from Co Longford, has been sold privately to Scotland for an incredible €30,000.
The 14-month-old son of Foxhillfarm Ourbest claimed some of the biggest scalps on the show circuit this year, winning overall male champion at the National Limousin Show in August before going on to win overall male calf champion at the ABP beef bull of the future championships in Iverk Show later that month.
His dam, the famous Scotchtown Esther, is well-associated with producing high-priced bulls, with two sons selling for 28,000gns and 35,000gns in Carlisle last February.
Purchasing Arthur is the Cameron family from Newton Cottage, Acharacle, Scotland – well-known show calf producers.
However, before he joins them, conventional and sexed semen will be collected at Cogent UK, to be marketed through Elite Pedigree Genetics.
'Special calf'
Commenting on the deal, breeder Martin Davis said: "Arthur was a special calf from very early on. His dam is consistently producing the goods, with his maternal sister Castlebrock Victoria ET winning the overall female champion at Iverk Show this year also.
"We really hope he breeds well for the Cameron family and wish them all the best with him."
