Galway farmer dies following accident on land near Loughrea

A Galway farmer has died following an accident on a farm near Loughrea on Wednesday.

Gardaí confirmed to the Irish Farmers Journal that they attended the scene of a fatal workplace incident.

A Garda spokesperson said the farmer’s death had been referred to the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) for further investigation.

It is understood that the farmer was spreading slurry when the incident occurred.

A spokesperson for the HSA said it had been made aware of the fatal incident on a farm in Galway.

They said the HSA has launched an investigation into the farmer’s death, which remains ongoing.
