Over 1,350 bids were registered in the flaming-hot Kilcombe Belgian Blue online timed auction held recently through Denis Barrett Auctions and MartEye.

Buyers from Scotland, Northern Ireland and all over Ireland attained new genetics in the sale, which comprised of 12 heifers, four bulls and a small number of embryos.

Owned by Shay Hayden in Co Wexford, the Kilcombe heifers averaged €9,540, with bulls averaging €5,375.

Top price of €13,400 was paid for Kilcombe Untainable ET, a striking white heifer sired by Rollie Van De Steenakker and out of a Chocolat-bred dam.

This February 2026-born heifer carries the red gene and possesses a five-star replacement index of €94 along with a massive carcase weight figure of +42.6kg. She sold to Emily Maxwell from Co Donegal.

The February 2026-born heifer Kilcombe Unbelievable ET was not far behind at €13,200.

A first-prizewinner at this year's FBD National Livestock Show in Tullamore, this young heifer was described as the star of the sale. Sired by Maradona Du Champ Du Moulin and out of an Empire-bred cow, she will now sail across the Irish Sea to her new home in Scotland.

Kilcombe Tessa ET also broke into five figures, fetching €13,000. A serial prize winneron the 2026 show circuit, she is out of Kilcombe Nadine, a producer of several show champions, and the great Empire D'Ochain.

Backed up by some impressive figures, this February 2025-born heifer was described by her vendor as a dream foundation female for any herd. She sold to Josh McCrabbe in Co Donegal.

Just short of five figures at €9,800 was her full sister Kilcombe Sonita, a rising two-year-old black and white heifer. Like all of Nadine's progeny, she also displayed a massive carcase weight figure of +42.9kg.
