Record prices for Beef Shorthorns in Northern Ireland were blown away in the First Edition Sale from the Glebefarm Shorthorn herd of Alfie and Elaine Shaw in Co Tyrone over the weekend.
The previous record price of £4,200 for a Beef Shorthorn bull in Northern Ireland was breached on a number of occasions in the online sale hosted by Harrison and Hetherington.
The first bull to break the record was Glebefarm Windsor (Pp) when he sold for £15,500 (€18,596) to the Longfield herd in Oxfordshire.
A son of the herd's impressive new stock bull Galla Sonic (P), Windsor is a heterozygous polled bull, which descends from one of the herd's foundation cows Uppermill Jackie (P).

But Windsor's record didn't last long, as Glebefarm Warrior (Pp) quickly followed suit at £16,700 (€20,036).
A son of Burnside Thor (PP), this outstanding specimen of the breed goes back to the herd's Chapelton Duchess line.
Again heterozygous polled, this April 2025-born bull will now join Lucinda Townsend's Coxhill herd in Dumfriesshire.
In general, Glebefarm bulls were in massive demand, as all six bulls sold to average £8,917 (€10,698).
Females
Topping the females at £7,500 (€8,998) was the fabulous Glebefarm Jackie Vivacious (P).
Bred from the herd's prolific Jackie cow family, she is a daughter of the Irish-bred sire Ballinlig Robbie.
In-calf to Burnside Thor, this May 2024-born heifer displayed all the hallmarks of a foundation female, selling to Clive Richardson in Co Armagh.
Like the bulls, females were a ferocious trade, as all six heifers sold to average £5,367 (€6,439).

Maralin consignment
Libby Clarke's guest consignment of four weanling heifers all sold to average £2,562 (€3,073), with a top price of £4,000 (€4,799) for Maralin Countess Myrtle Y769, the eight-month-old daughter of Glebefarm Schumacher.
